Coaching, why not for you too?

People often ask why they should pay for a coach (not the athletic kind) … When I read David Frank Gomes’ article, I loved his answer and thought he was bang on. This blog entry reflects his sentiment.

Many of us spend time to weigh out the options and then spend our hard earned money on a car, a TV or cell phone service package. Think about how much time and energy is used on such things. Important as they are in some of our lives, investment in yourself is even more important and have far greater benefits and impacts.

If you value where your life is going, your career direction and perhaps a peace of mind, if you value understanding why you get stuck and want to move forward, and if you are willing and prepared to look deeper to gain a different perspective, then getting a coach might be for you. Some of us don’t think twice about paying for a massage to soothe the locked muscles, paying for a coach will help to transform you in more ways than one.

A career or life coach doesn’t fix your problems. S/he will help you to explore, dig deep to find the root causes and understand the effects, unearth possibilities, find your own solutions and to help keep you accountable. A coach becomes a facilitator for that conversation and exploration. The relationship with a coach can be unique, rich and rewarding for an individual, and can last a long time.

Many CEOs, business executives and leaders, and athletes have coaches, so, why not you?
